Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the foody app ("foody", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the app. We are committed to handling your data carefully and only collecting what we need to run the service. 1. Who is responsible

foody is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can contact us about any privacy matter at siknago@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data: your email address, your password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), and an optional display name.
  • Content you create: recipes you save (name, description, ingredients, quantities and units, number of servings), the meal-plan entries you schedule (dates and meal type), and recipe photos you choose to add from your device's photo library, including their image dimensions.
  • Technical data: a login session token stored locally on your device so you stay signed in.

We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, or usage tracking, and we do not use the device camera.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and maintain your account and keep you signed in.
  • To save your recipes and meal plans and sync them across your devices.
  • To show recipes you have explicitly marked as public to other users.
  • To send you essential account emails, such as email verification and password-reset messages.

4. Legal bases for processing

Under the GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the app's core features and manage your account.
  • Consent — when you choose to publish a recipe publicly or provide an optional display name. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure and functioning correctly.

5. Public recipes

Recipes are private by default. If you choose to mark a recipe as public, that recipe and your display name become visible to other foody users. You can change a recipe back to private at any time.

6. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising. We use Supabase (Supabase Inc.) as our backend provider for authentication, database, and image storage; your data is processed on our behalf under their security and privacy terms. Our website also loads fonts from Google Fonts when you view it in a browser.

7. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted as described below.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

9. Account and data deletion

You can permanently delete your account directly in the app under Settings → Delete Account. This is permanent and removes your recipes and associated data. You can also request deletion by emailing siknago@gmail.com.

10. Children

foody is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. International data transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country, including outside the European Union. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in line with applicable law.

12. Data security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, passwords are stored only in hashed form, and access to stored data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
